Meeting and Movie Night

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Join us this month as we get together to watch the movie “Up in the Air” and have dinner in Atlantic Station on January 16th.

 

Movie: “Up in the Air” with George Clooney. As professionals in the aviation industry, most will be able to relate to the story of this movie in certain occasions.

Dinner: After the movie, we will…

finish the evening with dinner at The Grape. We will most likely get a discount off the total bill for everybody so, please join us as we all eat, network and mingle!!

Parking: You will be able to park in the garage underneath the shopping area of Atlantic Station for free for the first two hours and when we get the movie tickets, the theatre will give us another two free hours of parking. Therefore, we will have four free hours of parking, sufficient time to watch the movie and have dinner.

The museum is the first comprehensive airline industry museum in the U.S.

The agenda is as follows:
2:00 pm: Tour of museum
2:45 pm: Chapter meeting
3:30 pm: Wrap up

After 3:30 pm: As an optional/additional networking time, the board will be happy to join you for lunch or drinks at the restaurant of choice. Members are encouraged to attend and bring a friend. The Chapter meeting/museum tour is a $5 donation which will include a tour of the museum, the chapter meeting, and light refreshments. Networking at the restaurant after the tour is optional and the cost is not included in the event/chapter meeting fee.

thought it was appropriate to have a community event where
we give back to the community while we raise some money for
a scholarship. Chapter members will be wrapping gifts at
different Barnes and Nobles locations and all funds will go to
the scholarship. Here are the tentative dates:

12/6 (Sat.) Alpharetta store, 9-5
12/12 (Sat.) Perimeter store, 9-5
12/17 (Th.) Town Center store, 9-5
12/19 (Sat.) Newnan store, 9-5

Join us for a social gathering at the newly renovated 57th Fighter Group Restaurant in Peachtree DeKalb Airport. As some of you might know, this restaurant closed in December of 2006 and a different owner has renovated it and opening in September and offered to Women in Aviation for this event, which is the new board’s first gathering. The restaurant overlooks PDK, making it a great spot to watch airplanes!!

The intent of this meeting is to get to know each other a little better and network as well as gather suggestions from the members as to what they want the chapter to be, activities and programs they would like to see, etc.

Come and visit with us. You will be glad you did!

The Chapter will cover the costs of the airshow ticket for those
members volunteering their time on one or both of the days.
If you are interested, please RSVP by Tuesday, October 6th to
info@wiaatlanta.org or call Evanthe at 404-210-1442. When you
RSVP, please indicate when you will be volunteering:
- Saturday, Oct. 10: 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 10: 12:30 – 5 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 11: 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 11: 12:30 – 5 p.m.
We are limiting the number of volunteers to four at any one point so,
please, RSVP as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
Shuttle services begin at 8 a.m. Buses will run from each of the
designated parking areas to the airshow entrance and back. The
buses will be color coded and titled according to the parking area.

AWAM A nonprofit organization formed for the purpose of championing women’s professional growth and enrichment in the aviation maintenance fields by providing opportunities for sharing information and networking, education, fostering a sense of community and increasing public awareness of women in the industry.

AOPA With a membership base of more than 415,000, or two thirds of all pilots in the United States, AOPA is the largest, most influential aviation association in the world.

Atlanta Aero ClubThe Aero Club of Metropolitan Atlanta was founded in 1984 by Lockheed Aircraft Company Executives and local aviation businessmen. Early meetings were held at the Atlanta Commerce club in downtown Atlanta. Then Georgia Governor and avid pilot George Busby was an active member and the goal of the club was to attract aviation business to the Atlanta area.
